What We Offer
A Choice
When teams operate with shared purpose, explicit values-based standards and respect for everyone’s role in the organization, they offer tremendous reward. When they’re dysfunctional, it’s a nightmare.
But nightmares are a choice. It’s possible to empower teams according to their members’ capabilities and potential. Doing so allows for the joy of creating benefit to the company and to members themselves. This path of growth and success naturally promotes workplace cohesion, market responsiveness and company resilience.
Together we can find ways to guide and inspire your contributors to become highly functioning and responsive. And help you navigate the “up-power” challenges that leaders face in working with top management and corporate boards.
Outcomes
The natural confidence that arises from seeing our own leadership potential clearly and that of our team’s - what they can do to make success happen - will allow for effective and even daring mutual feedback. It’s the only way to invite and sustain team growth and build long term success - resilience - and loyalty.
Our Approach
Establishing a highly functioning, empowered workplace requires three elements: A) creating an environment where contributors’ impact is invited; B) providing them a path to earn that impact; and which involves C) courageous communications skills, which can be learned or refined.
In partnership, we’ll evaluate how your teams are functioning and where change is needed. In addition to working one-on-one, you’ll have the option of joining me in working with your team directly, supported by skilled facilitation.
Whether or not you're looking to improve teams, we’ll explore your leadership style. Good leaders are those who take an interest in their habitual approaches. Gaining an understanding of the whys and hows of one’s decision-making patterns allows for the possibility of new approaches and fresh ideas.

About Melanie
A childhood fascination with astronomy led Melanie to earn an astrophysics degree at CSUN where her inner geek enjoyed monitoring sunspots at the school's solar observatory.
This led to her becoming a design engineer for Spectrolab, a division of Boeing that manufactures solar panels to power commercial satellites and interplanetary spacecraft. She quickly realized that while she was a capable engineer, she’d have greater impact working directly with the company’s customers, like mission specialists at JPL-NASA and the European Space Agency. After Boeing sponsored an executive business program at UCLA’s Anderson Graduate School of Management, she spent over 20 years as an International Business Development Director, securing a host of huge contracts and learning a lot about leading multi-disciplinary teams under competitive pressure and how to manage her demanding (and ultimately supportive) bosses.
When Melanie was ready for a change, her long interest in meditation and big questions about life and death led her to complete a Master of Divinity degree at Naropa University and then go on to run a number of meditation non-profits. This was harder than she expected! Leading non-profits can be incredibly challenging; one is always hustling for funding, volunteers, grants and new members.
Turning to coaching, Melanie completed training and was certified by Newfield Network. Her interest is in offering all she's learned in the corporate and non-profit sectors to support senior team leaders and executives looking to become great leaders and to grow great leaders themselves.
